Appranix ensures the comprehensive protection of your Hosted Zone records, which directs traffic to your Cloud Assembly's protected resources. For recovering your protected Hosted Zone records, Enable the DNS Record Update (Route 53) option during recovery.
TYPES OF ROUTE 53 RECOVERY
SAME VPC RECOVERY
When initiating a recovery within the same VPC and enabling the Route 53 option, Appranix seamlessly updates all existing hosted records to reflect the newly recovered resource endpoints or IP addresses. This ensures the continuity of your domain's routing configurations with the newly recovered resources.
NEW VPC RECOVERY
In the case of initiating a new VPC recovery while enabling the Route 53 option, Appranix will newly create all your protected hosted records in the chosen recovery region. These Hosted Zones will be established on top of the newly created VPC, safeguarding your domain's accessibility.
EXISTING VPC RECOVERY
If an existing VPC recovery is initiated with the Route 53 option, Appranix efficiently updates existing matching records. If there are no matching records, Appranix will create new Hosted Zone records that points to the recovered resources, ensuring the reliability of your DNS configuration.
ADDITIONAL CAPABILITIES
RETRY DNS UPDATE OPTION
After a successful recovery of all the resources, if the DNS update encounters a failure, users can utilize the "RETRY DNS UPDATE" option. It allows you to retry the DNS update action without the need to initiate another recovery process. This option is accessible on the recovery details page under the "Actions" button.
ROLLBACK DNS RECORDS
If any issues occurred due to DNS updates or if there is a need to revert any modifications made to the Hosted Zone records, you can utilize the "ROLLBACK DNS RECORDS" option. This option is available on the recovery details page under the "Actions" button. It empowers you to restore the Hosted Zone records to their previous state, as they were before the initiation of the recovery process.
DOWNLOAD DNS CONFIG
By using the "DOWNLOAD DNS CONFIG" option available on the timelines page under the "Actions" button, users can retrieve the DNS configuration for all Private Hosted Zones associated with the protected VPC corresponding to the selected active timeline.
Note: Currently, Appranix supports protection and recovery capabilities only for Private Hosted Zones.
